NOthing

A vast open expanses of “nothing”. Nothing, I mean there was definitely something.

Much like shit, nothing is lazy excuse for something you either don’t want to describe or lack the vocabulary to do so. There definitely was something outside the window-screens of my rented climate controlled people mover.

A near endless permutation nature. Constantly changing based on the time of day, the temperature, or the part of the country we were driving through.

Back to nothing. My kitchen wall could be called a vast expanse of nothing. Well that is to say it’s empty and white. Maybe more of a canvas?

So why this picture Traveling Man? Look closer. This wonder of geology resembles a Stupa. See the doorway cut into the formation? Just short hop over that fence and I’d be able to look in the doorway.

But I didn’t. Was too wrapped up with getting back to my white kitchen wall.

Antelope Canyon

Had countless iPhone shot Instagram accounts not posted, liked, and reposted this place would I ever have come here? Let alone pay USD$250 for two pax to visit this place?

I was one of the lucky ones. My camera phones low light photos suck and it doesn't have any digital crutches to fall back on. Hence, I was free to experience the place.

Free from the "necessity" of experiencing the place I'd seen on a screen from a screen, so I too could capture it on my screen, so everyone on their screen could see I'd photographed the place everyone else had photographed with cameras that make the place look better than it really looked when I was there.

Not to trivialize the beauty of Antelope Canyon. No, it was just the reality of visiting it at 2PM in January. The sun was low, so there was not much light. The added benefit was there were also few tourists.

Such a hypocrite, you with the blog. This entire thing is filled with pictures. Yes. But at what point does a shot to remember, become trading your eyes a lens and your memory photoshop?
