Marsiling Tunnels

The Marsiling Tunnels were originally built by the British Royal Air Force in 1942 and served as a fuel reserve depot. During WWII the Japanese added 5 oil storage tanks to the facility. After the war, the facility continued to be operated by the Asiatic Petroleum Company and was known as the Woodlands North Depot. After the British withdrew from Singapore, the site ended up being abandoned in the 1970's.
Today only two of the tunnels are accessible. Tunnel 1 faces the causeway connecting Singapore to Malaysia.

Inside the Tunnel 1 are some of the largest House Gecko's and Indo-Pacific Gecko's I'd ever seen. This is also the first place I've seen both of these Gecko's living together.

Tunnel 2 is a bit harder to access, but is much deeper.
Inside Tunnel 2 the oil pipes and valves are still there and a hint of petroleum hangs in the air.
While the wiring has been stripped out, the light fixtures are still there.
You can actually look into Tunnel 2 from the outside. In the photo below, there is hole in the wall.
If you look through that hole, you can see inside of Tunnel 2.
